Light Forms: The Tactility of Light

Light Forms: The Tactility of Light is an experimental study of the tactility of light. I was intrigued by the the amount of detail that could be portrayed through the shadow of an object. I worked with wire mesh, LED light, and colored film to observe how shadows could portray depth and form.

The sculpture's proximity to the LED light and to the projection wall impacted the size and clarity of the shadow object. The wire mesh's shadow counterpart was able to take on such detail that it seemed as physically real as the actual sculpture. However, the shadow object was able to be scaled up and down in size while maintaining depth, whereas the physical sculpture was less adaptable.
